What to Expect
  • No directories! We're going green - after 50,000 directories over the last 5 years, we're doing our part. Do yours and go ONLINE to see employers in advance of the fair.
  • What you will get at the BJC is a list of employer names and booth numbers with a BJC floor map.
  • Getting to the BJC: The Blue Loop gets very crowded! You can also take the Red Link, Green Link, White Loop, or the P, or walk (and check your sneakers at coat check).
  • Student Registration: Required of all students, alumni and visitors. Located at gates A or B. You will receive a nametag with your name and major. Bring your student ID to expedite the process.
  • Free Stuff: Recruiters will give you pens, giveaways, post-its, pamphlets, and more. You will get a bag at student registration or bring your own.
  • Coat/Bag Check: Feel free to check your umbrellas, bags, coats, and other items. Located next to student registration - no cost!
  • Need help? Ask anyone in an orange shirt.
  • LOTS OF STUDENTS! Be prepared - the event draws thousands of students and will be very crowded. Remain calm, and focus on your top five employers that you want to visit.
  • Lines! Popular employers draw lots of students and there will be lines. Patiently wait your turn or visit your next employer of choice and return later.
  • Employers are purposely not arranged by industry or alphabetically. Per request from employers, booths are arranged so that competing companies are not near each other.
  • Need a break? Visit the student lounge on the mezzanine level (second floor) for water and copier. Can't find this? Ask an orange-shirt volunteer.
  • Ask for a business card or contact info. You will need this info to send your follow-up thank you message.
  • "Apply online" - Many recruiters will also require you to upload your resume to their web site as part of their standard application process. This is not a brush-off! Recruiters want to meet you face-to-face.
    • Bring your resume on a jump drive - some organizations will let you upload your resume at the fair.
  • Wireless Connection: If you need to quickly look-up information on the Fall Career Days website, you will have wireless access at the BJC.
  • Interviews: Many employers will ask you to interview the next day - you should get an appointment card indicating your interview date, time, and place. If not, ASK. Note: some employers may be interviewing later this semester.
  • Info Sessions: Some employers may ask you to attend an info session to learn more about their organization.
  • Last Minute Cancellations: Some employers will cancel at the last minute. Check with staff at student registration (gates A or B) for the cancellation list.
