Are you following me?Become a Fan of Penn State Fall Career Days!Penn State Career Connection

After the Fair is Only the Beginning
  1. Within a few days, send a thank you note (email or snail mail) to each recruiter with whom you talked – especially if you are considering future opportunities with the organization. Communicate your continued interest in the organization/position. If possible, mention something specific about the organization/position that is of interest to you.
  2. Nittany Lion Career Network (freshmen, sophomores, juniors & seniors) formerly Nittany Lion Recruiting
Registering with Nittany Lion Career Network gives you access to job listings, on-campus interviews, resume posting, information sessions and more. To create an account, visit www.sa.psu.edu/career/nlr. Many of the employers at the fair will conduct interviews later in the semester and you must be registered to with NLCN to participate.
  3. Internships/Co-op Seekers
Connect with your college's internship office
  4. Network with anyone (friends, family, faculty, alumni of Penn State) who will give you information on career opportunities or job openings. While these people might not have specific information on job openings, they might refer you to influential people.
  5. Perfect your Interviewing Skills
Learn about the various types of interviews, the questions to expect and how to best answer common questions by attending one of Career Services' sessions on interviewing, participating in a mock interview and reading the handout.

Tips:
  • After the fair concludes, jot down notes about conversations you had with company representatives. If you wait too long, the conversations will start running together in your head, and you'll forget what you said to whom.
  • Follow up on promises. If, for example, a company representative expressed interest in looking at your Web site, make sure to email the URL like you said you would.
  • Remember to apply online after the Fair if the recruiter instructs you to!
